Atletico Madrid admit that they will face a major fight to try and keep Spain international striker Fernando Torres at the club beyond this summer.
The 22-year-old has netted three goals at the World Cup finals already, sparking talk of big-money approaches from the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and AC Milan.
Atletico president Enrique Cerezo told the club's official website: "Torres is an outstanding player and, I have to say, a fantastic man.
"We want to keep Torres and, God willing, he will remain with us next season.
"For the past four years we have stopped Torres from moving and in the end, after so much persistence, perhaps the glass will break."
