Aragones: Let's finish the job

28 Jun 2008 - 15:16:48

Luis Aragones has urged Spain to 'finish the job' and overcome Germany in Sunday's Euro 2008 Final.

The veteran coach will end his four-year reign after the showpiece in Vienna and, after leading Spain to a first major final since their success at the 1964 European Championship, he is determined to sign off on a high.

"My team is in good form," said Aragones. "This is a very good time for us and I hope we can achieve something important.

"We are psychological strong and I think that we are going to win.

"Germany have fast, quality players, but the team that wants to lift the title will have to go out from the start with a winning mentality.

"I am delighted for Spain, for the players and then for myself to have reached this point. Now, the time has come for us to finish the job."

Meanwhile, Aragones has backed Cesc Fabregas to step up off the bench and fill the void created by David Villa's injury.

The tournament's four-goal leading scorer will miss the final with a thigh muscle strain.

"You always fear when you lose a player like Villa, but I knew Cesc could do an important job in midfield," he added.
