Southport boss Phil Wilson is confident that the addition of striker Paul Wheatcroft to his squad can help them end their run of seven Conference games without a win.
The Sandgrounders have slipped to ninth in the table and Wilson is hoping that Wheatcroft will inspire them to victory over Forest Green Rovers at Haig Avenue on Saturday.
"Forest Green are going well, but it's the kind of game we need to win if we're going to do anything in this league," Wilson told the BBC.
"He (Wheatcroft) has got a good pedigree and hopefully he will do well for us.
"He's quick, got a good a good touch and scores goals, and is the type of forward we need."
