Southport manager Mike Walsh has called on the club's fans to remain patient as he bids to build a side capable of making an immediate return to the Nationwide Conference.
A disastrous slump ended with Port slipping into the bottom three on the final day of the season but Walsh is pleased with the way his summer rebuilding job has started.
"We have done some excellent work re-engaging Steve Dickinson, securing Lee Ashcroft and acquiring a top goalscorer at this level in Andy Whittaker," Walsh told the Southport Visiter.
"I am talking to a number of Football League and UniBond players but it will take time to finalise deals. We have time and everyone has to be patient.
"We are looking for players with experience of UniBond football and who we are confident can adjust to it."
