Southend United have signed promising young striker James Walker from Charlton Athletic for a fee of £200,000.
Walker, 20 has penned a two-and-a-half year deal at Roots Hall. He had previously been on loan at Yeovil since October, scoring three goals in 13 starts for the Glovers.
He told the club's official website that he is looking forward to a new challenge, saying: "I'm at the age now where I need to be playing games.
"My aim now is to try to score loads of goals and get Southend back in the promotion race."
Walker spent nine years at The Valley, but failed to make a first-team appearance for the Addicks.
