Tilson eyes Black deal

Southend United boss Steve Tilson hopes to bring former Crystal Palace striker Tommy Black to Roots Hall this summer.

The 27-year-old ex-Arsenal trainee has been released by Eagles boss Peter Taylor after failing to play for the club for almost 18 months.

"Tommy could bring great quality in the final third of the pitch and if you could get him fit he'd be a decent player," Tilson told the Shrimpers' official website.

"He was on decent money with Crystal Palace but he's out of contract and he's another that we could well be bringing in."
