Sturrock salutes Shrimpers success

Southend manager Paul Sturrock was overjoyed after watching his side arrest a three-match losing run and get back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Rotherham.Sturrock's son, Blair, struck the decisive goal in the fifth minute after cleverly finding space in the box, much to the delight of his father."I'm very pleased with the approach of the players," said the former Plymouth boss. "Against Chesterfield, Crewe and Bury we have shown in bits that we are a handful, but we had consistency."We showed good team spirit and the fans were good because they backed the team all the way."My only criticism was that you are always nervous when you are one-nothing up that the other side can comeback. My only disappointment was that we didn't get the second goal to kill it off."But overall we looked a solid unit and that has been a problem in recent weeks with injuries and suspensions because we have been missing the spine of the team and that has been a worry."
