Late double boosts Grecians
Exeter scored twice in the final eight minutes to secure their first victory of 2014 as they fought back to win 3-2 at Southend.
The Shrimpers seemed set for victory when two goals from centre-back Mark Phillips put them in front after Jimmy Keohane's opening goal for the Grecians.
But late strikes from Liam Sercombe and substitute Eliot Richards enabled Exeter to come out on top.
The Grecians first went in front after just 10 minutes when Keohane fired home from 12 yards but, moments later, the Shrimpers were back level when Phillips headed home a right-wing free-kick from Ben Coker.
Ten minutes later Phillips headed home Kevan Hurst's corner to put Southend ahead but the hosts continued to look shaky at the back.
Home goalkeeper Daniel Bentley did well to keep out Keohane and John O'Flynn before Sercombe netted with an outstanding 25-yard shot which flew in to the top right-hand corner of the net.
Five minutes later substitute Richards cut in off the left flank and netted with a low shot to clinch a dramatic win.
