    Shrimpers striker will stay

    04 May 2007 - 07:40:42

Southend United hot-shot Freddy Eastwood insists he will be happy to stay at Roots Hall next season if a summer transfer doesn't materialise.

Eastwood has proved to be one of the most lethal marksmen in the Championship after netting 16 times despite the Shrimpers' relegation into League One.

The former West Ham youngster is poised to earn his first Wales cap in the friendly with New Zealand later this month, but claims he will play for Southend next season if no other clubs come in for him.

He told the club's official website: "If I don't get a move in the summer I've still got a contract at Southend and I'll still be a Southend player."

Eastwood has bagged 65 goals in three prolific seasons for Southend.
