Shrimpers seal Bailey deal

Southend United have completed the £175,000 signing of Barnet midfielder Nicky Bailey.

The 23-year-old was named both the Bees' player and young player of the season last term and has agreed a three-year contract at Roots Hall.

He made 129 appearances in three seasons at Underhill following a £10,000 move from non-league Sutton United.

"We have watched Nicky so many times and he's a very good player," Blues manager Steve Tilson told the club's official website.

"He is a player who has a bit of everything. Nicky can score goals, but he's a fine all-round player who I am sure will be successful at this football club.

"It's good news that we have agreed terms because he's someone we have been chasing for a very long time."
