Shrimpers reject McCormack bid

Dubliner McCormack has been a key player for the Essex club since signing from Preston in November 2006 and United chairman Ron Martin insists they had no intention of selling him. "We rejected a substantial offer for Alan McCormack," Martin told the club's official website. "It was a good offer, but Alan is an important part of our squad and we value him highly. "Only players that are not in our plans will be allowed to leave."
