Southend United hope to be able to move into their new ground by 2010 after being given the go-ahead to build their new 22,000-seater stadium.
The Shrimpers can plan for the future with confidence, according to chairman Ron Martin, who is delighted the stadium can now be built at Fossetts Farm after a public inquiry
He told the club's official website: "It is with an enormous pleasure that I am able to confirm that the decision issued by the Secretary of State approved the club's new stadium plans.
"This is without a doubt a pivotal moment in Southend United Football Club's history and, once the final points of the decision notice have been considered, we will waste no time in commencing construction."
