Shrimpers boss won't give up

Southend United boss Steve Tilson is refusing to write off his side's chances of reaching the play-offs despite Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Swindon Town.

The Blues remain tenth in the table after the defeat at the County Ground, but Tilson has vowed to keep believing in promotion until it is mathematically impossible.

He told the club's official website: "We have to give our all in the remaining games we have and not get complacent.

"While it's mathematically possible to get into top six we'll have a go, but even if there's a stage when it isn't we still have to play to our best.

"We want to finish as high up the table as we can. Next up is Carlisle on Saturday and we'll need to react the right way for that one because they aren't a bad side either.

"We've been on a good run though and we want to keep the improved run going."
