Sankofa suffers knee problem

Southend United defender Osei Sankofa could be set for a lengthy spell out of action because of a knee injury.

Scans have confirmed that the full-back picked up a serious problem in last Friday's home loss to Southampton.

"Osei's knee really swelled up after the match," said physio John Stannard. "His knee had caused him some discomfort for a few weeks but we only learned of the problem at the weekend.

"A scan on Monday showed that he has a serious injury and we will await the specialists' views as to how we move forward with treatment."
