Red card won't faze Morrison
17 Nov 2009 - 12:44:59
Sean Morrison is hoping he can enjoy a successful loan spell with Southend United despite being sent off on his debut for the Shrimpers following his loan switch from Swindon Town.
The 18-year-old central defender was dismissed in the first half of the game against Yeovil Town for a foul on John Obika.
He will be suspended for Friday's match against MK Dons but remains in an upbeat mood, saying: "I thought it would be good for me to come here and get some games and that's still the case.
"Before coming to the club I spoke to Alex Revell, who's on loan from Southend at Swindon, and he told me it would do me good to come here.
"He said that playing alongside someone like Adam Barrett would be beneficial for me because he's a good defender and very experienced."
Of his sending off at Huish Park, Morrison added: "I think the referee buckled under the pressure their players put on him and, if the game had been played at Southend, I really don't think I'd have been sent off."
