Southend United were reported as having turned down a 300k offer for talented youngster Kane Ferdiand but the Posh chairman says that's not the case, tehya re only stalking him! Southend have reportedly rejected a £300,000 offer from Peterborough for youngster Kane Ferdinand. The 18-year-old, who is the cousin of Premier League duo Rio and Anton Ferdinand, came through the youth ranks at Roots Hall, making his debut for the club in January. He went on to make 22 appearances for the Shrimpers, scoring two goals. And his performances have attracted the interest of Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson, who is preparing his side for life back in the Championship following last season's promotion. Ferdinand was born in England but has represented the Republic of Ireland at both Under-18 and 19 level. Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has said Posh have enquired about Southend's Kane Ferdinand. But MacAnthony added the club have stopped short of tabling an offer, despite reports to the contrary. Ferdinand, 18, broke into the Shrimpers team last term and went on to play 22 games for Paul Sturrock's side. "He is on list of talented youngsters for future and we made a call about him," MacAnthony said on social networking site Twitter. "[We] are planning to keep eye on him this season. "I see Sky [Sports News] has us spending £300k on young lad... promising young player for future but we did not offer this for him."
