Southend United boss Steve Tilson is unsure when veteran striker Dougie Freedman will be ready for a first-team return.

The 34-year-old scored four goals in four games before picking up a thigh problem that has already sidelined him for more than five weeks.

"Dougie's been for another scan and it's still very much the same as it always has been. We really don't know how long it's going to take for him to be back fit again," Tilson told the club's official website.

"Time is very much a healer where Dougie is concerned, but I really don't have a clue when he's going to be playing again."
