Southend United chairman Ron Martin is hoping that his team's fine recent run of form will help for the play-off campaign ahead.
The Blues could yet snatch an automatic promotion place in League One, but are likely to have to do things the hard way in the play-offs.
Steve Tilson's side are unbeaten in their last 13 games and Martin believes that that form will be an advantage in the weeks ahead.
He told The Echo: "If you did a league table from January I'm sure we would be top and since Christmas the team has done brilliantly, which has really helped their confidence.
"That is crucial at this stage of the season when teams are all getting tired, but our players are on a high and hopefully that will help in the play-offs.
"They are always a bit of a lottery, but hopefully we can keep the run going and get to Wembley."
