Joyce ponders Shrimpers offer

Southend United have offered American goalkeeper Ian Joyce a new one-year contract at Roots Hall.

The 23-year-old joined the Shrimpers last summer from Grays Athletic and has spent most of this season on the substitute's bench.

However, he did feature in three games for Steve Tilson's side, all of which were won.

"We've offered Ian another year's contract," confirmed Tilson. "He did well when called upon in the first team last season but he knows he still has things to work on.

"He's improved during the year with us and that's why we've decided to offer him a new contract. The ball's now in his court as to whether or not he decides to accept it."
