Former Watford goalkeeper Ian Joyce is looking forward to the new season after signing a one-year deal with Southend United.
The 22-year-old American was released by the Hornets at the end of last term after failing to make a first-team appearance for Adrian Boothroyd's side, but is excited to be at Roots Hall after becoming United's fifth capture of the summer.
Joyce told the Shrimpers' official website: "I think that it's a great opportunity for both me and the club. I hope to come and do a good job for Southend and I'm really looking forward to the season.
"I was with Watford last year and we parted ways at the end of the season, but I'm happy to have landed where I am now.
"Watford was a great club to kick off my career and now I'm excited to be back in England."
