Hammell rules out move

Southend United left-back Steven Hammell has dismissed rumours linking him with a return to Scotland.

The 25-year-old moved to the Shrimpers from Motherwell last summer but was unable to stop the club sliding back into League One.

He made 47 appearances for the club and is keen to add to that tally next term.

He told Southend's official website: "I'm very settled in the area.

"I've bought a house in Southend and the people are all friendly around here."
