Francis remains upbeat
18 Apr 2007 - 13:24:49
Southend United defender Simon Francis still believes the Shrimpers can defy the odds and stay in the Championship.
The home defeat to Barnsley left Steve Tilson's side three points away from safety with only three matches remaining, but Francis remains in an upbeat mood.
"If we go to Plymouth and get the win and other results go our way then it will all be level again," said the 22-year-old former Sheffield United full-back.
"So I certainly don't think the season is over and it may suit us being underdogs as well.
"We're under less pressure now because everyone thinks we're already down, but it's up to us to go and prove them wrong and that starts on Saturday when we really need to win."
