Southend United are set to continue with their current crop of veteran players after an excellent recent run.
Shrimpers manager Steve Tilson had apparently settled on a young team as he attempted to move United back to the Championship, but a recent return to form has coincided with a run for some veteran stars.
"No disrespect to the youngsters who had been playing because they did well but with the position we were in I felt we needed more experience," Tilson told the club's official website.
"That led to the change around and since we've done that we've won both games and are looking solid again.
"We kept a clean sheet against Bristol Rovers and only conceded a very dubious penalty on Saturday so that's good news and we want to keep Crewe out this evening."
