    Eastwood eyes a move

    18 Jun 2007 - 12:09:05

Southend United striker Freddy Eastwood has signalled his intention to leave Roots Hall this summer to seek a move to a higher division.

The 23-year-old is a target for both Wolves and Norwich City following the Shrimpers' relegation to League One and Eastwood says he is ready for a new challenge.

He told the Evening Echo: "I think it is time for me to move on.

"It has nothing to do with money, it's just that I am an ambitious person and I want to play as high as I can. I hope Southend and their supporters understand my decision."

Eastwood has scored 65 times in 135 appearances for Southend since his arrival from non-league Grays Athletic on October 2004.

However, he will not be leaving on the cheap, with manager Steve Tilson telling the club's official website: "It's all hollow speculation at the moment.

"Wolves have so far only made one low offer and that was immediately rejected.

"The chairman doesn't want to sell Freddy and an offer of £1.5million is well below the market value for such a proven goalscorer."
