Rotherham United winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce will join Southend United at the end of September on a three-month loan deal.
Shrimpers manager Steve Tilson failed in his attempts to bring the 22-year-old to Roots Hall on transfer deadline day but the former Charlton Athletic youngster will now move to the club on 30 September.
At the end of the three-month loan spell it is expected that the transfer will become permanent for an as yet undisclosed fee.
Campbell-Ryce came through the youth team ranks at The Valley and enjoyed loan spells with Leyton Orient, Wimbledon and Chesterfield before signing a permanent deal with Rotherham midway through last season.
