Campbell-Ryce makes early move

Southend United boss Steve Tilson has opted to sign Rotherham United midfielder Jamal Campbell-Ryce on loan earlier than initially anticipated so that he can play in Tuesday's League One clash with Yeovil Town.

Injuries to Mark Gower and Carl Pettefer have forced Tilson's hand.

The former Charlton Athletic youngster was originally set to sign for the Shrimpers on September 30 so that he would be available over the entire Christmas and New Year programme.

However, he will now miss the Bournemouth match on New Year's Eve before making his move to Roots Hall permanent on January 1.
