Southend United forward Lee Bradbury is hoping for a swift return to first-team action after finally overcoming a nagging hip problem.

The 31-year-old has played just four times for the Shrimpers this season, but made a goalscoring return for the second string earlier in the week and now wants to help the club's battle to avoid the drop.

Bradbury told the club's official website: "From a personal point of view it has been a disappointing season for me so far.

"I was only supposed to be injured for three weeks initially, but there were a few complications and it's ended up being three months.

"That's been frustrating, especially when you look at the league table and see us down towards the bottom of it.

"I want to play my part in helping us get back up the table and into the safety zone."
