Blues swoop for Revell

Southend United have wrapped up the signing of Brighton & Hove Albion striker Alex Revell for a fee of £150,000.

The 24-year-old has signed a contract running until the summer of 2010, ending an 18-month stay with the Seagulls, for whom he scored 18 goals in 71 appearances.

Revell told his new club's official website: "It is a great move for me and I'm delighted to be here.

"I had a great 18 months at Brighton and really enjoyed my time there, but circumstances chance in football.

"I can't wait to start playing for Southend and show people what I can do and hopefully, help this club achieve what we all want, which is promotion to the Championship.

"It is a massive football club, we deserve to be in the league above and we are well on course to do that."

The Shrimpers have also signed Reading's young forward Hal Robson-Kanu on loan until the end of the season.
