Barrett seeks Blues upturn

Southend United captain Adam Barrett has called for the club's players to pull together to end a run of six League One games without a win.

The Shrimpers have dropped into mid-table as a result of their poor form, but Barrett believes that they can recover to mount a promotion challenge.

He told The Gazette: "We're going through a blip which is disappointing and we all have to pull together now.

"It is frustrating being 12th in the table because the play-offs is where we want to be, but we're going through a bit of a blip.

"It's not ideal, but the only way we are going to get out of it is to dig in and work even harder."
