Barrett ready for play-offs

Southend United captain Adam Barrett is relishing the opportunity to make an immediate return to the Championship.

The Shrimpers are preparing for a play-off semi-final against Doncaster Rovers, with Barrett aiming to secure a third promotion during his time at Roots Hall.

He told The Echo: "These are the games all players want to be in. It's just great and personally I can't wait to play in them.

"We're three games away from possibly winning promotion, so bring it on. We're raring to go and we're confident we can do it.

"There are a few of us here who have been there and done it. We will draw on that experience I'm sure and hopefully do it again.

"It will be tense, tight and exciting, but it's what we've worked for and we've done superbly. We know what we're capable of and it's time to show it again."
