Barrett before Oldham Athletic

Blues skipper Adam Barrett is 'very confident' he'll be fit for Saturday's must win game at Oldham, where he should meet up with an old team mate. Barrett: Captain Adam missed the games against Brentford and Brighton due to a hamstring strain, but expects to play against Oldham Athletic at the weekend. The Shrimpers skipper told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I had a hard training session with the fitness coach yesterday and feel fine, so I will return to full training today. Providing there is no reaction then I will be fine for Saturday and I'm obviously desperate to play." Where he should come up against old team mate, goalkeeper Darryl Flahaven, who played 351 appearances for Southend.Adam continued: "It will be great to see Flavs again but, at the same time, it's going to be strange playing on opposite teams. We had a lot of success together when he was at Southend and he's a great lad who I still speak to a lot, so it will be nice to catch up." However, while accepting the difficult position his side are in, relegation to league Two could be confirmed at Boundary Park, Captain Adam wants to give the travelling faithful something to 'cheer about'.He concluded: "We're playing for pride as well and to give everyone a lift because it hasn't been the happiest of camps here over the last couple of weeks. It's incredibly difficult for us to stay up now and things don't look good but we want a win on Saturday."
