Barrett after Exeter City

Published: 16 Mar 2010 - 08:15:06

Blues skipper Adam Barrett was proud of the effort his side showed in the weekend's goalless draw with Exeter who he felt deserved their point. Barrett: Shrimpers captain Adam Barrett felt his side had done all they could in the game bar scoring but Adam Stansfield's effort for the Grecians was right to be disallowed.Barrett told www.thisisexeter.co.uk: "We had a few chances and if we had been a bit more confident we might have taken three points. We are disappointed not to win today because we felt this was a game which we could go and win. The boys put in a tremendous amount of effort but on reflection a draw was about right. From where I was I thought the 'goal' was off-side. Had the referee not blown I would have been screaming at him. It was a great save from Steve." However, he accepted that apoint apiece was a fair result from the game.Captain Adam continued: "We haven't had an awful lot of luck this year but that little bit has earned us a point. Exeter do pass the ball around well and they made it difficult for us. They got men behind the ball and we have struggled to break teams down when they do that. They are a good side and they are down there with us. They are fighting for their lives and these games are always going to be difficult."
