Barnard aims to keep taking spot-kicks

The seven-goal striker saw his effort saved by Shane Higgs as the two sides played out a goalless draw at Roots Hall. Yet despite the disappointment of not being able to help his side to what would have been a notable scalp, Barnard is not willing to give up penalty taking duties just yet. "I really can't remember the last time I missed a penalty and I'm just absolutely gutted," he told his club's official website. "I never even missed in the reserves at Tottenham so I was confident of scoring and I'm disappointed it didn't go in. "The keeper has a good reputation and it was a decent save but I should have scored and I know that. "I will step up again next time. Missing a penalty is a horrible feeling and one I don't want to experience again. The important thing is how you react and I'm determined to make amends."
