Wycombe Wanderers Waddock: 'Know for sure Benyon score goals for Southend' :Swindon Town Port Vale

Former Torquay United striker Elliot Benyon has one game under his belt already and looked lively enough, and will get another chance to strutt his stuff for his second game in six days against Port Vale on Saturday, on the back of some good words from hi

Waddock: '(Chairboys) didn't see the best of him unfortunately'   The manager of League One Wycombe Wanderers Gary Waddock had to lose striker Elliot Benyon after he left Adams Park, where he was on a season-long loan to his home town club, to sign permanently for the Shrimpers.   The former Swindon Town forward turned out only twice for the Chairboys   Benyon made his final appearance for Wycombe during the shock FA Cup defeat against non-league Fleetwood Town back in November.   It never helped his cause for the club, who are struggling in the bottom four of the third tier after only gaining promotion last season, when after landing awkwardly in a pre-season training session he broke his hand, sadly for the Bucks club never recovering the prolific scoring form he Elliot had showed in previous campaigns at Torquay United.   Waddock told www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/: "We didn't see the best of him unfortunately. He got an injury in pre-season at the wrong time and it just didn't work out for him. He's a good goalscorer and I wish him good luck at Southend. Sometimes you go to clubs and it doesn't work out and unfortunately he had an injury which didn't help him at an important time. It just didn't happen for him. I know for sure he'll go to Southend and score goals."   Shrimpers sign striker from Swindon: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk    Good signing?: http://boards.footymad.net    Still more needed?: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk    The Benyon Files
