Work starts on Roots Hall pitch improvement

Southend United will face both East Anglian rivals Ipswich Town and Norwich City in pre-season friendlies on a hopefully much improved Roots Hall pitch. The Roots Hall pitch: Soon an all-new improved version! It came in for some criticism last season but the good news for the faithful is that work has already started on the Roots Hall and the home of football should see an improvement for the start of the next campaign in League Two. Blues boss Paul Sturrock told “The groundsman has always done a terrific job at Roots Hall and he did last year but that was due to certain circumstances. It’s being re-seeded this summer though and we’re confident it will be much better.” Look forward to seeing it for the two pre-season games presently planned to be played in south-east Essex in July against Championship ipswich town and newly promoted Premiership side Norwich City.
