Blues right-back Simon Francis has been voted player of the season by the Shrimper faithful, but will he join Nicky Bailey and Peter Clarke by leaving the club in the summer? The Shrimper faithful have spoken, and they've decided that full back Simon Francis is the Southend United player of the season. In second place was midfielder Anthony Grant, while goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall was voted third. Simon spoke to www.echo-news.co.uk: "It was nice to hear but I thought it could maybe have gone to Mildy because he's had a good season as well and been a key player for us. Realistically it doesn't mean a lot because it hasn't helped us stay up but I'm grateful to win it."
