We shouldn`t have been beaten - Sturrock

Paul Sturrock was naturally disappointed after seeing his Southend side give up the lead before going on to lose 2-1 at Northampton and felt his players deserved more. Anthony Grant`s 57th-minute strike handed the visitors the initiative but Town, looking to bounce back after four successive league draws, clinched all three points courtesy of goals from Abdul Osman and Andy Holt. Sturrock said: "We dominated for long spells and shouldn`t have been beaten. We dictated play and although we were never going to score a lot of goals, we had the chances to have won it. "To concede a goal five minutes after going ahead was very poor. But we didn't keep our shape and some inexperience in defence cost us for the winning goal. "But this is a young side and I saw a lot of good things in the game and I'm sure we will get better in the future."
