Timlin: 'It was the (Swindon) chairman Jeremy Wray who let me come to Southend'
Shrimpers midfielder Michael Timlin is in great form for the club he joined on loan until the new year way back in August, but whether he stays beyond that point is still to be discussed between Southend and parent club Swindon Town with Blues boss Paul Sturrock confirming he was to discuss the matter internally very soon.
Timlin told www.echo-news.co.uk: “I am loving it at Southend but things can change very quickly in football and I’m not sure what will happen when my loan is up. I’m in a lucky situation to still have 18 months left on my contract at Swindon so I don’t really have to worry about things. I’m very grateful for the contract Swindon gave me and if I had a deal which ran out in January then I would be getting concerned. But this way I can just focus on my football and then the two clubs sort things out between themselves.”
Now, Robins boss Paolo Di Canio is never one to keep quiet when the media is about, and S24 reported at the weekend how the tempramental Italian said that United would have to cough up some decent dosh to keep Timlin in south-east Essex.
However, this decision may be out of Di Canio's hands anyway!
Timlin said: “Anyone who knows the situation will know I’ve shown a good attitude. I’m not going to comment about it because I think footballers have been doing that too much in public recently. If Di Canio wants to speak then that’s up to him but it was the chairman Jeremy Wray who let me come to Southend and I’d like to thank him for allowing me to do that because I’m really happy here."
In the meantime, the Johnstone's Paint Trophy regional semi-final draw placed the Shrimpers at home to Swindon and Luggy will wait and see if he can select Timmo for the game, something that the player himself believes is in doubtl.
Timlin concluded: “We watched the draw in our hotel on Saturday and I had a funny feeling we were going to get Swindon. I haven’t been told for definite at the moment if I can be involved in the game but it’s my understanding at the moment that I won’t be able to play."

Swindon visit Roots Hall in the JPT, more than llikely, on Tuesday, December 6th, kick-off 19.45, while definitly in League Two on Saturday, January 28th, kick-off 15.00, both very ig matches indeed.
