The Shrimpers third signing of the week, midfielder Michael Timlin, is pleased his mind has been put to rest and his move to the club finally made permanent.

Timlin: 'We can definitely go on to win promotion this season'

It took around 50k and a manager who makes him play at his best but central midfielder Michael Timlin and that cultured left foot is finally a full-time Shrimper after signing an 18-month contract.

Timlin told www.southendunited.co.uk: “I’m delighted that everything has been sorted out. It had been playing on my mind a bit because you just don’t know what might happen. Southend knew I wanted to stay though and Paul Sturrock always brings the best out in me. He’s a fantastic manager and if we do what he asks then we can definitely go on to win promotion this season.”

And Timmo should be in the team to face Port Vale at Roots Hall Saturday afternoon.
