Timlin: 'I want to stay at Southend United & play for the manager here'

The Shrimpers loanee midfielder Michael Timlin completed the last game of his deal with the Essex boys in the 1-1 home draw with the Daggers, and we now await the announcement he's staying at Roots Hall permanently!

Timlin: 'We just weren't at the races all afternoon and didn't play at all well'

We thought it was all agreed, four figure deals and all that!

It's not yet!

However, Shrimpers loanee midfielder Michael Timlin expects to sign for the club on a permanent basis this week after being on loan from League Two rivals Swindon Town since August!

Timloin told www.echo-news.co.uk: “I want to play for the manager here and I want to stay with Southend. It's just a case of sitting down and sorting out the minor details but I can't see anything stopping the move happening now. It's very close at the top of the league now and we need to get on another good run again.”

We hope so too and Timmo has been showing signs of returning to his best form, in fact EEB had him in the running for the S24 MOM, especially after his cracking 25 yarder had given United a half-time lead against the run of play.

Sadly though Timlin then did a Mark Phillips al la Wimbledon's opener last Saturday, and helped set up Brian Woodall's 87th-minute leveller for Daggers!

He said: "I was pleased with my goal but looking back now I should've just cleared it away for their equaliser. I was in two minds about whether or not to try and keep the ball or whether to clear our lines and before I knew it the ball had just bobbled off me and gone straight in to their player's path. It was obviously very disappointing but we just weren't at the races all afternoon and didn't play at all well. Credit to Dagenham because they put in a good performance but, without being disrespectful to them, we need to be winning these kind of games games if we are to stay in the top three.”

Indeed we are, and let's hope we get Timmo to sign on the dotted line and face his old club when they visit Roots Hall on Saturday, January 28th.

And with them just a win behind us in the league it should be a cracking, as well as a very vital, six pointer!
