Oldham Athletic: The Blues loanee midfielder Michael Timlin has not been at his best recently as he awaits to know where his future lies.

Timlin: 'I want to get back to playing like I was at the start of my loan spell'

The loan deal of Shrimpers midfielder Michael Timlin ends in January and Robins boss Paolo Di Canio has made it clear Roots Hall towers will have to cough up the dosh we want to keep him, all of which is making it tough for Timmo to be at his best.

Timlin told www.echo-news.co.uk: “All I know is that Southend and Swindon are talking at the moment. I’m trying to stay focused on helping the team play well but I do hope things get can sorted out quickly.”

Difficult to be at the top of your game when you don't know where you are going to lay your hat in less than a month, and certainly his marks have been dropping in recent weeks after a string of man-of-the-match performances.

Timlin said: “I always analyse how I’ve played and maybe not knowing about where my future lies has been playing on a mind a bit in the last couple of games. I don’t think about things like that when I’m out on the pitch but afterwards I do wonder if it might have something to do with how I’ve played. I want to get back to playing like I was at the start of my loan spell and hopefully I can do that against Oldham tomorrow.”

Anyway, for now, it's all about the next game which is the League One latics in the FA Cup, a game that if won could see a Premiership club come to town.

He continued: “We hope to be playing teams like Oldham in the league next season so it will be a good test for us. It would be great to get in to the third round and be drawn against a top team but we know it will be hard. We’re playing a lot of games in a short period of time as well but when you’re on a good run like we are the matches really can’t come quickly enough.”

Swindon have refused Timlin permission to play in the JPT regional semi-final on Tuesday, so that's one game less, but a booking on Saturday would mean a one match suspension which would cover that particular cup tie; take a look at Timmo at the weekend!
