Tilson positive despite defeat

The Shrimpers sank to a 3-1 loss against the Hatters - their sixth league defeat in eight games - but Tilson remains adamant his side are close to arresting their poor run of form.

"I got a great reaction from the players in the second half. At least we did create some chances in the second half," he said

"The work ethic and work rate we showed was fantastic at times."

Tilson also agreed with the decision to show Peter Clarke a straight red card after just 34 minutes for a tackle on Tommy Rowe.

He said: "Peter was a bit high with an earlier challenge, but I'd like to see the video of the actual red-card offence. The referee was right there though. If the challenge was high and a bit late then the decision to send Peter off was fair enough."
