Tilson before Oldham Athletic

Blues boss Steve Tilson has confirmed that negotiations with the board are ongoing regarding a new contract but he never thought about quitting. Tilson:"I would never walk away from here, I'm just not that type of person," said Tilson, whose side will be relegated if they do not triumph at Boundary Park this weekend. "It has been a difficult season and probably my toughest yet to be honest but at the same time it's a challenge and I don't ever give up on things." Tilson is the longest serving manager in League One having been in charge of Blues since November 2003. His current contract expires at the end of next season and chairman Ron Martin has already stated he wants the 43-year-old to stay. Tilson attended a board meeting yesterday and is sure talks between him and the club's hierachy will continue. "We have two and half weeks left of the season now and I'm sure there are a few things which will be discussed," he said. "We will have to wait and see what happens but at this stage we're all concentrating on the matches we have left."
