Tilson before Hartlepool United

One manager involved in the important clash at Victoria Park Saturday is up for a challenge, the other hopes his returning winger isn't as much! Tilson: 'The lads work rate and spirit was second to none' Blues boss Steve Tilson is looking forward to a fixture he knows has to start the fight back in a season that sees them one place off out of the drop zone in League One and still awaiting their first win of 2010 after the pointless week that's just gone.Tilly spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "If we had picked up points from our last three games it would have been a bonus, but looking back over those games, it was really disappointing not to get any points on board. I thought the lads attitude towards the games and their work rate and spirit was second to none, but we fell short in all three games. We have to look forward now and we are playing six of the sides around us in the next six games and these are the games which could determine our season."As for the Monkey Hangers, he expects no favours as the home side need points desperately as well.Tilly continued: "Hartlepool is a long six or seven hour journey and it's always a tough place to go to. We have got a small squad, but the spirit is fantastic. The boys are certainly up for the challenge, so are Brushy and I, and although we know it won't be easy, we are positive we can end the season on a good note." Turner: 'The last home game was enjoyable one for players and supporters' Monkey Hanger 'Director of Sport' Chris Turner has warned winger Andy Monkhouse, returning from a two-goal suspension at the weekend, to behave after picking up ten yellow cards this season, the second successive campaign this had happened! Turner told www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk: "I told him he needed to calm down when he got sent off three years ago at Rochdale! A lot of his bookings are foolish when he gets involved in things he doesn't need to. It is costly because we miss him when he is suspended. I don't think he's been booked this season for being aggressive. He has been booked for frustration rather than going gung-ho into a tackle to prevent a goal or shot. His bookings have come from tripping someone up, pushing a player over or shouting at a linesman. He has to cut them out." Not sure what you consider aggressive then Chris, 'tripping someone up, pushing a player over or shouting at a linesman', all seem a touch over the top to me! Still, maybe Macca needs to have a chat with him. Anyway, for the vital clash with the Shrimpers Saturday wants his team to start putting a consistant set of good results together.  Here, Turner spoke to www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk: "We've got thirteen games remaining and we need to be looking to put a little run together and get us up the table and in a position which better reflects the way we've played. The last home game was an enjoyable one for players and supporters and we need to go out there against Southend and create more chances, score some goals and get the three points."
