Sturrock: 'You've got to worry about over-confidence & restlessness of players not involved''

Macclesfield Town, Oxford United: Table-topping Shrimpers manager Paul Sturrock admitted that success brings its own headaches after their 2-0 win at Macclesfield Town.

Sturrock:    The new League Two leaders Southend United have now won nine of their last 10 games, leaving Blues boss Paul Sturrock to contemplate keeping his players' egos in check! Sturrock told the PA: "You've got to worry about over-confidence, you've got to worry about restlessness with some of the other players not being involved and you've just got to keep churning out result after result. Our keeper made two great saves and perhaps that was the only difference between the teams. Macc have had a great start to the season. They have lost once at home on the first day of the season and many of the top teams have gone away with their tails between their legs so I am doubly delighted at this result."

He also confirmed what the faithful have been talking about for weeks now, we can call upon some decent subs!

Sturrock said: "We have some good individuals here but more importantly a good team and even more importantly a good bench. That has always been the key factor in success, the quality of your bench, and with players like Jemal Johnson, Neil Harris and Anthony Grant to come in for me, I can say I have a high quality bench."

No argument there, now for the fourth placed Qxford United next Saturday afternoon at Roots Hall to try and continue the Shrimpers best start in the league for 21 years before the fireworks go off!
