Sturrock will be talking with Shrimpers pair

Southend United manager Paul Sturrock is to hold contract talks with skipper Craig Easton and striker son Blair in the near future. Sturrock: 'We will be talking to both of them soon'    Shrimpers midfielder and club captain Craig Easton has already told the Blues boss Paul Sturrock that he wishes to stay, and striker som Blair has probably told his dad much the same, (I mean where else would he go?).   Anyway, just to make it clear he gave www.echo-news.co.uk this mega quote: “Easty and Blair have been out of the country but are now back. We will be talking to both of them soon.”   Well that will make you all sleep easier tonight.   Speculation that Luggy is interested in last season's loanee Michael Timlin, who replaced Easton while he was out injured, and now out of contract at Swindon Town, will probably focus the mind of the Southend skipper who made 37 appearances last term, scoring five goals.   Just don't expect a huge pay rise, if any at all! As for Blair, 48 games brought only one goal more (six), and the Shrimpers faithful jury remains firmly out, the desperation shown at wanting a new striker or two shows how much faith they have that the son of Luggy will help lead the charge out of League Two. However, his hard work, at times, and successful partnership with top scorer Barry Corr, at times, would probably see the Roots Hall support accept a one-year contract offer the least he deserves, Blair's probably cheap enough already, as long as he becomes a squad member and a useful bench warmer, and not a first team regular. S24 expects both to sign on the dotted line eventually.
