Sturrock: 'We deserved to be level at least' ; Parkinson: 'Semedo could have been given a red card'

Both managers had their say after the JPT Southern Area Quarter-Final at Roots Hall Tuesday evening which saw the Addicks march on at the Shrimpers expense. Sturrock: 'Peter Gilbert also had his best game since signing' Blues boss Paul Sturrock felt his side deserved more than the 1-0 defeat they suffered at the hands of the Addicks Tuesday evening in the JPT Quarter-Final.Sturrock told Blues Player: "I'm gutted to have gone out because we really wanted to go on further in this competition but I'm pleased with how we played. I thought we deserved to be level at least and then for the game to be decided by penalties because we were on top, especially in the second half." However, he was determined to take some positives from the game, and as well as believing that strikers Barry Corr and son Blair performed well, time for the others to grab a goal or two he believes, other names were mentioned in dispatches as well.Luggy continued: "Fans walking away from the ground will I'm sure be giving the two forwards plenty of stick because they didn't score but we need to start sharing the load around. It was great to see how well Bilel Mohnsi and Luke Prosser played alongside each other. Luke has had a torrid time in a few games this season but he's a young lad finding his feet and he did well. Peter Gilbert also had his best game since signing." Parkinson: 'Southend started both halves the better team'Annoying to see ex-head Farmer Phil Parkinson leave Roots Hall with yet another win, his third in a row I think, he won with Hull in our Championship season, still he had some good words about the Shrimpers. Parkinson told www.charlton-athletic.co.uk: "It was a tough game but we knew it would be. There was a lot at stake tonight with the winners two ties away from Wembley. In the first half, I thought we played well and in the second we became a bit scrappy in our play and didn't keep the ball as well. But we were able to get another clean sheet and it was a fantastic goal from Therry Racon that won it for us. Southend started both halves the better team. But Robbie's playing well at the moment and is in a rich vein of form."He also accepted that an Addick midfielder Jose Semedo was lucky not to be sent off, that would have helped, for yet another serious challenge on Anthony Grant, who is having to get used to such treatment, and sadly it seems to be working, his goals have dried up.Semendo had already been sent off by match referee Grant Hedgley against AFC Bournmouth on the opening day of the League One season!Parkinson said: "I thought it was a silly challenge by Semedo. He's a terrific player for us and a very important player, but once you've been booked you definitely don't go to ground again. On another day, and with another ref, he could have been given a red card."Not the first time a Charlton player should have had an early bath when playing in south-east Essex.
