Sturrock: 'We are a more nervous team at home': Yates: 'We had to dig in and win ugly today'

Sturrock: 'You can see how lively we play away from home' Blues boss Paul Sturrock is desperate to find out the answer to what every Shrimper is asking this Bank Holiday evening after a fourth home defeat at the hands of the Robins of Gloucestershire; why are Southend United not getting the results at Roots Hall?It certainly doesn't help when your shot stopper fails to do just that!Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "We started so sloppily, the goalkeeper has put his hands up for the first oneand then we didn't clear our lines and didn't play with any tempo and we are sitting two goals down. It's a very tall order to come back from that. I felt the players showed a will to win during the second half which I didn't think was there in the first half. You can see how lively we play away from home and it's difficult to pin point what we need to do at home. "It's certainly the opposite of what the Blues travelling faithful have seen in the previous two games, back-to-back 2-0 away wins, the first against today's opponents. Luggy continued: "We must start believing and start to dictate the pace and tempo for the whole game like we did in the second half. We played the second half properly and if we had played that way through then we would have had no problems. I have watched a lot of DVD's and we are a more nervous team at home than the confidence and freedom we play with at home. That is the wrong way round and it's something we have to break very soon." Yates: 'We had a bit of a point to prove' Meanwhile, Robins boss Mark Yates admitted his team had to tough it out to make sure they left south-east Essex with the three points, just three weeks after losing to the same team at Whaddon Road. Yates told www.ctfc.com: "We had to dig in and we had to win ugly today, which we don't normally do. Browny had to make a couple of saves and they had the ball in our box a number of times but my defenders did magnificently. It's a hard place to come and a big ask for them to play only 48 hours after Saturday's game. But our first half performance was really good and our second half one was a battling one."And Yates accepted that revenge was sweet.He continued: "We had a bit of a point to prove after Southend beat us at our place. We don't normally dwell on games we've lost for too long but I made the players watch 60 minutes of that game and the amount of crosses coming into the box so easily it was not acceptable. Today they came into the box at better angles for us to defend and I thought Keith Lowe did really well against their left winger today."
