Both managers had their say after the Shrimpers 1-0 win over the Millers Saturday afternoon at Roots Hall; one that his players responded well, the other his players just didn't. Sturrock: 'The players responded properly' Blues boss Paul Sturrock was a relieved man after the victory over a very poor Millers team on the day that took his side up to 15th place. Sturrock told BBC Essex: "Well after three defeats, the Chesterfield game we should have taken something and also the Bury match with the chances. It could have gone from bad to worse, but the players responded properly. We were playing a very difficult team today, with their long throws and the way they like to play the game." Moore: 'Too many long balls which played straight into their hands'Meanwhile, Millers boss Ronnie Moore accepted his team were a touch one-dimensional on the day and deserved to return pointless from their long trip down to south-east Essex.Moore www.themillers.co.uk: "It was probably the worst we've been all season. Southend are a good battling team, that is all they are but they out-battled us today. I won't have that performance again this season, it was unacceptable."Er, thanks Ronnie, I think!Even so, he did comment on his own team's shortcomings.Moore continued: "We have good players in our side but if you do not play to the best of your ability then you will lose, and that is what happened today. We haven't passed the ball and played too many long balls which played straight into their hands. I can only apologise for the fans who have travelled all the way down here to witness it."
