Gillingham FC, Bristol Rovers, Dagenham & Redbridge, Torquay United. It's only the first day of the new transfer window and media reports have linked Dagenham & Redbridge forward Gavin Tomlin with Southend United!

Gavin Tomlin: Trio of clubs ready to pounce?

www1.skysports.com have reported that several clubs are interested in signing Dagenham & Redbridge forward Gavin Tomlin during the January transfer window.

It seems Tomlin is set to leave the Daggers on a free transfer with the news getting a few League Two teams interested!

The 28-year-old enjoyed a successful spell on loan at the Gulls last season, scoring four goals during his two-month spell at Plainmoor.

That would certainly place Bristol Rovers in there, as the Pirates boss Paul Buckle signed Tomlin for Torquay, however he's a Gillingham born boy so that  could give the Kent based club an advantage.

However, with Southend today confirmed that fellow 5ft 10 striker Elliot Benyon's transfer from Swindon has been confirmed, he's in the squad for the Daggers clash at Roots Hall on Bank Holiday Monday January 2nd, it's doubtful Blues boss Paul Sturrock would be looking for two 'foxes in the box', or is the start of a complete makeover in the style of play of Luggy's teams!

Not convinced about this one, and let's face it, Sky Sports have had a poor record this campaign regarding the Shrimpers.
